Surprisingly, a lot of interesting things have happened lately! So before I get myself ready for bed, I'm going to do some blogging.
Today, I was supposed to be going out to the city as some sort of 'exploration' activity with my friends, but most of them weren't able to come because of clashes and illness. So, like Mary said (if you read her blog), Mary, Ellen and I went to Readings to use up our gift vouchers that we got from school. I'm pretty sure we all started off at the young adult section, as I was really looking forward to finding and buying The Demigod Diaries, but that didn't happen because I couldn't see it on the shelf. I know I could've asked, but frankly I couldn't be bothered and I'm half glad I didn't.
If you don't already know, I'm kind of really obsessed with Greek Mythology. And Readings is honestly the best place to buy books on mythology and historical things. And so, I offered myself a challenge: instead of buying things from the young adults section, I was going to try for more 'classic' stories because I couldn't find any of the YA books I desperately wanted to read.
As such, these were the books I got today:

And so, I offered myself a challenge: instead of buying things from the young adults section, I was going to try for more 'classic' stories because I couldn't find any of the YA books I desperately wanted to read.
As such, these were the books I got today:
I'm currently reading the book at the top, The Song of Achilles. I'm now up to chapter nine and I swear it's one of the best books I've read in a while. It's interesting because it's slash fiction as well (plot twist), but I actually feel like I'm living in Ancient Greece and it's nice to feel like you're living in a world you kind of want to explore. (Although, I'll have to admit, it doesn't seem like a nice thing, being a woman living in those times.)
The second book, The Golden Fleece, has thin pages and tiny writing, so I might read that last, because I'm really looking forward to reading Ovid's Metamorphoses, which is the book at the poems. It's a collection of Greek Myths, based on the gods than the heroes, which is what the other two focused around. I'm extremely excited. Until I get The Demigod Diaries and The Mark of Athena, these might give me company. I might even bring one to Mildura, but I might feel unwell and I think we'll be too busy to read, anyway.
I was kind of rude today, which I have to apologise for. I got so wrapped up in my book I totally forgot about everyone else, which wasn't very nice of me. We walked back from the bookstore all the way to Maccas at the Children's Hospital and looked at the meerkats (Chrome came up with the suggestion 'menservants' under 'meerkats' because it doesn't recognise it as a word. Thought I'd share.), before coming back to Mary's house. She's loaded my hard drive with all sorts of awesome shows/movies, so I'll also have something to do if nothing good's on television or on boring weekends which I'm already craving!
I think I'm going to start myself watching Doctor Who, which has been a long time coming, to be honest. I'm really looking forward to it, I've just never had the time. Well, I'm going to make time! Perhaps I'll watch one/two episodes a night until I get through all of them. It depends on buffering and all that, particularly with the first season, which I don't have.
And that's it, really! I have school tomorrow, something I don't really want to be going back to, but alas, I must. I'll definitely be bringing The Song of Achilles to school tomorrow to pass the time if I need be. And Mary, you have to read this. It's so amazing and I'm pretty sure it's your cup of tea.
Yours in weirdness,
Tash.
