Wreck this instead of your life.

Hello, spring rolls! (I was trying to be original okay, and that was the first food that came up in my head. Deal with it.) I know I said I would be blogging more regularly after I returned to school, but yeah, I lied. I'm pretty sure you all know by now I am the worst at keeping promises - with people, or with myself. My goal-setting skills are shameful. But anyway.

Besides being lazy, the main reason I haven't been blogging is because school is... well, school. There are always funny things going on, but they're rather minuscule and it's hard to keep track of them all because my friends are pretty much comic geniuses (unlike moi). Besides the funny bits, for the second week of semester, I'm bloody knackered. I don't understand how so many things have happened in such a short period of time.

The highlights of the week were probably:

  • Tuesday. It was the day my friends gave me my late birthday present (blame online shopping and delayed shipping): the beautiful and long-awaited Wreck This Journal. I stared it on Tuesday, and have worked on it since, but I've been a bit busy so I haven't progressed as far as I would like. The first thing I did to wreck it was crack the spine; it was one of the most satisfying yet painful things I have ever done in my life. Thanks to Mary and my other friend Ellen for getting it for me - I can't thank you enough. x
  • Thursday. Subject selection evening! This was the night where we got talked about pathways for the future, especially about VET, VCE and VCAL. I would tell you the differences, but I'm not here to talk about how Year 11 & 12 works for Victorians. After two hours of just talking (which was boring and a little stressful), we went and talked to the teachers about what subjects we want to do for next year. I'm pretty confident in all the subjects I want to pick, and I'm probably going to accelerate into Year 12 Biology next year, as I'm already taking Year 11 Bio, which is exciting (but a massive challenge - and I have to get interviewed first). Also, that afternoon, I had my first self-defense lesson. It was fun, but there's a lot more theory and talking involved, opposed to ballroom dancing where you start almost immediately, which is kind of crazy. In ballroom, you do so much activity you're knackered; in self-defense, you talk so much you only get to try out three things. It's strange.
  • Friday. End of the week! It was also my friend's last day at school, before she goes off to Ukraine. She doesn't read my blog, I'm pretty sure, but I'm going to miss her terribly. She is the funniest person I know and I already started missing her while we were at school. Travel safe, dearie, and come back to us in one piece, with awesome travel stories (and dirty-minded Ukrainian pencils). x
  • Saturday. London 2012 has begun! Waking up at 4 in the morning (not by choice, I promise), I realised my mum was awake and went to her room and talked to her. By 5:30, Mum said that it was time for the Opening Ceremony to start, so I sat with her watching it. While she fell asleep in parts, I stayed strong... at least until after USA had marched. I woke up when the Queen officially opened the games, half-an-hour later. I was aiming to see what I had missed during the replay later in the day, but it just so happened that I had to go out to a dinner thing while the athletes marched, so I missed it. Again. On a final note, the Queen is so badass. I have never been so proud to say she's also the Queen of Australia and that I'm a part of the Commonwealth.
On another note, there are only two more days of July left... I don't know what to do with myself. I always love my birthday month, despite the bitterly cold weather, and I can't believe I have already been 16 for two weeks. It doesn't seem real. But nevertheless, bring on the rest of the year! Hopefully the second half will be much better than the first.

If anyone's wondering what the title's going on about at this point (you're probably not, but still), no, I'm not doing anything stupid. The 'wreck this' was supposed to reference to my new Wreck This Journal, and the fact that subject selection has been weighing down on everyone recently, because these are Important Decisions. Also, because I need to keep my grades up, but things like this very blog post, and my WTJ makes that a very difficult task. I am a serial procrastinator, as you haven't already guessed.

That pretty much sums up my pretty-average week... I'll be back soon (hopefully) with more news, regarding me. Not that I think anyone cares, but you know, it'll be here, just waiting. I'll leave you of a little photoset thing of my Wreck This Journal and it's first page.

Yours in weirdness,
Tash.

(P.S. If you think of a better sign-off for me, let me know in the comments. I'm just wondering if you guys find it boring or too weird.)
