I feel this picture is necessary for this moment:
Yeah, I lied. I'll be blogging now because I just had strawberries and already the sugar's kicked in. Wow.
So anyway, this post has been named as such for many reasons, but mostly pertaining to the fact it's my mum's birthday. Although we don't look very much alike, I do have a couple of her traits. I like to think I inherited her sass -- and no, don't tell me if I haven't, I like to daydream.
Yesterday was my uncle's birthday as well, but he was born four years after my mum. I always find it funny because what a birthday present: "Happy birthday -- oh by the way the present is a new brother! How exciting!" As a selfish, only child, as much as I would want siblings, I wouldn't like them to rain on my July parade. They could be born during another month. (I'm so mean.)
There are four people on my Facebook wall celebrating a birthday, not to mention my cousin who shares the same birthday as my mum, one tomorrow of a godfather -- AND GUYS WHY WERE YOU ALL BORN WITHIN A WEEK OF EACH OTHER IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE OKAY.
My head just exploded. Sorry.
Apart from the birthdays, there have been quite a few open days. RMIT, Monash, Melbourne, La Trobe... unfortunately, I didn't get to go to Melbourne or Monash's open days -- Monash because I didn't know, and Melbourne for reasons I'll explain later. I did go to RMIT and I met a friend there, which was an extremely awesome experience as well.
However, Melbourne's open day was today. And although many people I know did go, I was unfortunately not allowed because my school also had its open day as well. And as a (vice) class captain, it's kind of a given that you have to attend. So, no freebies from Melbourne for me. Besides, I was too lazy to leave the house at ten and have a look around. But one of the year 12s had all these pamphlets on pathology courses and I really want to do pathology when I'm older, so she did let me take them and yeah I really love the people at my school. I barely know her.
Anyway, one of our (by 'our', I mean myself and my friend Lucy) tours took two hours, but they were lovely people and I really enjoyed having a chat with them. I suppose you're trying to sell the school but it's kind of nice to see certain people falling for the school and it's just a really nice feeling. I knew since I was in prep I wanted to go my school and I don't think I went to open day, but... if I had known that was what it felt like, I probably would've. It's such a nice feeling. Or perhaps I have a lot of hidden school spirit. (When you hang around Mary, it's not that hard.)
Our other tour was rushed, as there was only half an hour left before the college closed for the day, and I felt particularly bad they didn't get to see a lot of things, but non-perks of being late, I guess. The girl was in year six and she looked really excited and I probably enjoyed this open day much more than the last one.
After I was done touring, I all but bolted home and got ready for Mass, and then we went out for dinner! I got to see one of my friends again and I basically got full on air, we talked so much. And then we swapped Wattpad stories because that's a normal thing to do and then I came home.
I'm a horrible daughter, so I didn't really get my mum anything, so I offered her some of my own birthday money because I told her "you'd reimburse me anyway", and then we called my uncle in the Philippines. Afterwards, we called my other auntie, and I suggested we talked on Skype. Which we did, for about an hour. I saw my little... niece...? Yeah, niece, I think, and she was the cutest thing ever. It's too bad she hates me. I understand, I know I have a very unappealing face. But anyway.
So that's what happened to me for the day! It's been pretty full on, and I did much more today than I did on my birthday (makes sense though) and I'm pretty knackered. But I kind of wanted to give you this update while it was fresh in my mind.
Also, welcome Ellen to Blogger! Her blog can be found here. Ellen's pretty much mine and Mary's adoptive daughter and it's kind of scary how much she's like us now. She hair flicks and says weird things because I do. Non-perks of being in the same homeroom as me, really. I sit near her almost every morning. As much as I'm a flawless beast myself, I'm worried on my influence on Ellen's life. Particularly when it's combined with the Essence of Mary. Oh well.
Alright then, I'm going to finish this post now, the sugar's beginning to crash and I need to have an early start tomorrow. Night, lovelies!
Yours in weirdness,
Tash.
(P.S. If anyone's interested, next year for subjects I will be taking English, Texts & Traditions, Literature, Biology 3 & 4 -- if I get in --, Chemistry, Maths Methods & Media. Yeah, if anyone was wondering. k bye.)
